Our Eternal Connection

about

I played the Giuliani Etude intro, which Terrence has so beautifully scored, at Dianna Rose’s funeral held at the farm on 14th April 1996. The song came shortly after.
Dianna Rose, a Capricorn/Tiger, woman, wife, lover, mother of my children, astute business–woman, life partner and guide/teacher/organiser of our family’s life on the farm - a no-nonsense woman who always spoke her truth whether it hit a tender spot or not.
She was a very determined and brave person. In the 70’s and 80’s it was rare to find a midwife prepared to attend to home births. Di persisted and insisted. Our three boys were all born at home with a midwife and me in attendance, except Dominic who had three young midwives and our local GP, all eager to experience a home birth for the 1st time. I was relegated to fetching hot water and sterilised tongs and things while Di felt like a queen with all her attendants pampering her. Almost missed Dominic’s head popping out.
We had the whole gamut of experiences together in our 19 years together. Starting a family, starting a school for the local kids, growing most of our food requirements which Dianna cooked to perfection in the AGA stove that kept us warm in winter. We kept bees and cows, grew and learned about herbs, suffered through and survived droughts, floods, cyclones, fires, but we were young and in love with our life. Working in partnership with Nature is truly an uplifting experience.
